SF Black Wall Street is a nonprofit organization founded in 2020 by Tinisch Hollins, Gwyn Brown, and Kenya Bod Austin to preserve Black culture, strengthen economic opportunity, and support Black-owned businesses in San Francisco.
Established during the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization emerged in response to decades of displacement and the city's declining Black population. Based in the historic Bayview neighborhood, its work combines entrepreneurship, advocacy, cultural preservation, and wealth-building initiatives, including the Black Millionaire Development Program.
In February 2025, SF Black Wall Street opened the 1921 Lounge, a members-only gathering space featuring dining, live music, and coworking. Named in remembrance of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre, the lounge was envisioned as a place for Black community, culture, and economic connection. A fire in June 2025 temporarily closed the space, prompting rebuilding efforts.
In 2026, the organization expanded its reach through Bay Area Black Wall Street, recognizing that the Black community it serves increasingly extends beyond San Francisco.
At its heart, SF Black Wall Street is about more than supporting businesses. It's about preserving the cultural and economic foundations that allow a community not only to survive in a changing city, but to thrive.
