SF Black Wall Street
SF Black Wall Street (San Francisco Black Wall Street Foundation) is a non-profit organization co-founded by Tinisch Hollins, Gwyn Brown, and Kenya Bod Austin in 2020 to preserve Black culture, build economic power, and support Black-owned businesses.
Mission and Overview
Founding: Established during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 by local community organizers responding to displacement and the shrinking Black population in San Francisco.
Core Goal: Dedicated to the preservation of Black business, ownership, and cultural spaces, offering advocacy and the Black Millionaire Development Program.
Geographic Scope: Headquartered in San Francisco's historic Bayview district, expanding into the broader Bay Area as Bay Area Black Wallstreet (BABWS). [1, 2]
Key Projects and Spaces
Nineteen-21 Lounge (1921 Lounge): Opened in February 2025 at 1701 Yosemite Ave. in the Bayview. Named in homage to the 1921 Tulsa race massacre, the private members-only social club featured a restaurant, bar, co-working space, and live music.
Current Status: After suffering fire damage in June 2025, the lounge temporarily closed, with ongoing permitting and rebuilding efforts underway to restore the community hub.
