Lab Gov

LabGov (Laboratory for the Governance of the City as a Commons) is an international network of researchers, universities, and urban innovators exploring new models of collaborative governance.

Working at the intersection of academic research, public policy, and community action, LabGov develops practical tools for treating cities as shared resources. Its Co-City Protocol provides a framework for bringing residents, governments, businesses, universities, and civic organizations together to manage and steward urban assets.

With research labs and projects spanning Europe, the Americas, and Asia, LabGov connects the ideas of the urban commons to experiments in neighborhood regeneration, community ownership, and participatory governance.

Its work includes Co-City Baton Rouge, developed through the Columbia Lab, and the research behind Co-Cities, co-authored by Sheila Foster and Christian Iaione.
