Ice Cream Tour of California
The Ice Cream Tour of California is Don Lane’s month-long celebration of ice cream, small pleasures, and the places that create them. During National Ice Cream Month in July 2026, Lane set out to travel from Southern to Northern California, visiting roughly 90–100 independent ice cream shops over 31 days.
Conceived from an idea Lane had carried for some 35 years, the tour is deliberately not a competition: there are no rankings or scores, only exploration and appreciation. At its heart is a simple proposition—that even in difficult times, there is value in deliberately seeking out the frequent, everyday sources of joy that animate both individual lives and communities.
